The Hermant Building
The Hermant Building is a designated heritage office tower anchoring the southeastern edge of downtown Toronto’s bustling Yonge-Dundas Square. Renovated following LEED design principles, the reimagining of this 90,000sqft interior space was undertaken to develop a renewed aesthetic and accommodation of future full floor tenancies, while also conserving unique historic elements.
process
Walton GC established a strong rapport with the client and design team to develop and refine the construction approach, sensitively balancing the concerns of the building occupants, client needs, and design and construction excellence.
solutions
New systems were carefully integrated to manage maintenance strategies, consolidating tenant services within tenant spaces, in contrast to the way the building was originally designed. Furthermore, the buildings have been upgraded to accommodate new mechanical cooling systems, which had to be carefully designed to address heritage concerns.
